The Acorn Workbench

A great fall project for any woodworker that would love to have a workbench that will survive the rigors of our trade. The Acorn Workbench is a solid, well designed bench that can withstand everyday use and will last a lifetime. We offer a complete vise kit for both the end and side vise, all American made! These vises will never rack to the side like most of the benches on the market today. The Acorn benches in our shop are nearing 20 years old, and with a little TLC every month, they will last another 20 no problem! So start a project that will make your shop a better place to work, and enjoy the compliments of all your woodworking friends! This is a project any level of woodworker can complete. A good, solid bench is always needed in every shop. So don't settle for the $ 75.00 home improvement center model when you can create a bench the way you need a bench.

JOHN B. HETZEL'S TOOL CHEST
This is a Union tool chest with the original carry box. The tool chest is assembled from quarter-sawn white oak with finger joints. Each of the drawers runs on wooden rails, which fit flush in the case. The front of each drawer has a small detail, which today, as then, is made with a scratch tool. We detail the tool in the instructions. The drawers are staggered in size from the top to the bottom and when finished they are lined with green felt. There is a locking front door to the chest that stores under the bottom drawer when not in use. The carry box is made of white pine and the construction is quite simple. It also has a locking door. When you complete this project you will own an exact reproduction of a tool chest that set the standard for excellence for many craftsmen at the turn of the century.

  Tool Cabinet
This design has been featured in many magazines and plans have been requested for the past few years. Besides being a unique storage area for your tools, this project will represent your craftsmanship for future generations.

WIN A GRIZZLY TABLE SAW: We are pleased to announce the sixth year of our Furniture Design Contest. We will award a Grizzly Table saw to the woodworker who creates the best piece of furniture from an American Furniture Design Plan. The Grizzly table saw is rated by American Woodworker Magazine in a recent comparison of table saw, as their "Best Buy".  You may also submit designs of your own. You will need to supply two color photos of your piece, a front view and a side view along with a description of the materials that you used. Your photos will not be returned. We plan to have 3 finalists and from them we will award the Tablesaw on December 15, just in time for Christmas 2008.
